Is Your Skin Dry or Dehydrated

Most people, with a lack of moisture in their skin, assume they have dry skin. That may not always be true. There is dry skin, which is a skin type. And there is dehydrated skin, which is a skin condition. How can you know the difference?

Skin types (dry or oily) are usually inherited. You are born with it. Skin conditions happen to your skin and can be temporary or chronic, meaning they can last a long time or forever. Dry skin lacks oil. When you apply oils, lotions and emollients to dry skin it soaks it up and could require multiple applications in a day. Dehydrated skin lacks water. This could be the result of many different things. Certain medications, incorrect product use, some makeups, or simply not drinking enough water.

Here's where things get tricky. When skin is dehydrated it can produce more oil to make up for the lack of water. This could cause acne breakouts, irritation or patchy dryness. Skin could be oily with dry patches.

Now lets talk treatments:

Dry skin should be treated with oil or cream based products. Serum One Five by Liscia is an excellent oil based anti-aging treatment for all skin types. It especially benefits dry skin because it increases hyaluronic acid synthesis by 85%, improves the skin's barrier function, has been proven to increase elastin production by 190% in 11 days, and gives 179% increase in collagen I production and 194% in collagen III production in 11 days.

Dehydrated skin should be treated with water based products. Hydrate by Liscia is your answer to conquering dehydrated skin. It is formulated with several forms of Hyaluronic Acid and crosspolymers to provide superior hydrating abilities, improve the skin's texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and support the rejuvenation of your skin.
